In Our View: Partners Wanted ; This Might Finally Be the Time to Get a Performing Arts Center in Vancouver

Summary


As is typical with such volunteer organizations, the Southwest Washington Center for the Arts has considerable heart and soul but little cash or clout. The directors of the group are aware of that shortcoming as they pursue the long-time dream of a performing arts center in Vancouver, preferably with Clark College as a key participant and landlord.

If that partnership doesn't work out, it would be a shame for Clark College, which has 1,400 students and just one theater-type venue on campus, with only 167 seats. Productions requiring more capacity go in the gymnasium or flat-floored Gaiser Hall.
