In Our View - a Landfill to Like; Lowlands Proposal Makes Good Sense

What's this? A landfill in the lowlands? What a terrible idea, right? Well, not exactly. Here are a few details that caused us to support the idea more than a year ago: What's proposed is not a new landfill but a re-opening of the 10.39-acre Boise Cascade landfill, which the company donated in 2001 to the Hough Foundation. It's just north of the Port of Vancouver main offices.

Local developer and philanthropist Paul Christensen wants to direct half of the unspecified profits of the re-opened landfill to such groups as the Hough Foundation (in the neighborhood where he grew up) the Fruit Valley Neighborhood Association (just east of the landfill) and other groups. Well, the idea is starting to look a little better now, isn't it? Here's more supporting evidence:
