SEATTLE (AP) The rising cost of the Seattle Monorail Project now estimated at up to $11.4 billion has made it unaffordable and the project should be shut down, state Treasurer Mike Murphy says.

"The average guy can't afford a Ferrari because he can't afford it," Murphy said this week. "There should be somebody at the monorail (board) saying we can't afford this thing."
