Developmentally disabled and suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, Shane Cole has a tenuous grip on reality and needs more help to cope with his illness than he received, his family says.
Cole is in the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Hazel Stephens, 59. She lived with her family in the apartment next to Cole's at 305 W. McLoughlin Blvd. Cole allegedly asked Stephens to step into the hallway of their apartment building, then stabbed her. She died at the scene Friday night.See the full content of this document
