SEATTLE (AP) -- The Cadillac Hotel, a relic of the 1890s that was damaged in the Nisqually earthquake, has emerged from the rubble as the new home of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park, commemorating Seattle's role as supplier to gold-hungry prospectors heading north.

The park opened the doors of its new facility this week -- marking the start of a new role for a historic building that many had considered doomed by extensive damage from the 2001 quake.
