State Sen. Craig Pridemore was named "legislator of the year" by the state's environmental lobby Thursday for maneuvering an electronic waste recycling bill through the 2006 Legislature.

"He singlehandedly helped ensure passage of the waste recycling bill, a program that is the first of its kind in the nation," said Clifford Traisman, state lobbyist for the organization Washington Conservation Voters. "We expect it will be a model in other states and in Congress for getting these highly toxic materials out of our waste stream."
