Zoning change would punish residents

A Dec. 22 story reported on Green Meadows Golf Course: Zoning not up to par for golf course neighbors. The story was misleading regarding a city planners statement about annexation. What a city planner thinks or says has no legal bearing on the plight of the 140 homeowners who surround the 48-year-old golf course. To change the zoning after someone buys an expensive golf course home is wrong.

The city council has a responsibility to protect homeowners who purchased a home on the edge of a golf course. Now the golf course owner wants to have 700 lots of only 5,000 square feet pushed up against 140 homes with 12,000 square-foot lots, destroying the golf course.
