Most neighborhood associations get going because of some crisis or pressing need. Burton Ridge, in central Vancouver, came together because neighbors wanted to save threatened trees. Heritage, on the east side, got organized to try to prevent a telecommunications tower from getting built alongside a neighborhood park.

The new East Fork Frontier Neighborhood Association, southeast of La Center, has a different story. It's an organization in search of a cause.
