The project of deepening the Columbia River shipping channel to 43 feet from 40 feet cleared another legal hurdle this week. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in a 2-1 decision that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers made a realistic measurement of costs and benefits and performed "exhaustive studies" to explain the dredging project.
That's good news to dredgers, who already have begun their work, primarily in the Columbia River estuary near Astoria.See the full content of this document
