It's becoming harder for children to hoodwink their parents about what's going on at school, and the reason is the Internet, that vast resource with which many kids are more comfortable than their parents.

All school districts in Clark County are using computer software that, when perfected and open to the public, will allow parents to track their children's attendance, assignments and other aspects of school. The districts are at various levels of advancement with the software, but after the educators are fully trained and the bugs are worked out, online access will be granted to parents on a password- protected basis. As Amy McFall Prince reported in Saturday's Columbian, some districts aim to have the system accessible by fall while others are targeting public access at a later date.
