A scientific study has concluded that nearly 80 percent of vehicle crashes involve some kind of driver inattention, including distractions such ascell phones or drowsiness.

The 100-Car Naturalistic Driving Study used cars equipped with cameras, computer hard drives and sensors including Global Positioning Systems and Doppler radar antennas to record the behavior of 241 drivers as they traveled nearly 2 million miles, according to an April report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
