t's easy to pick on drunken drivers. They endanger us. But putting yellow license plates on their cars for a year so we can spot them easier, scoff or steer clear would not make us safer.
This "scarlet letter" notion is being considered in Olympia. Senate Bill 6402, sponsored by Sen. Mike Carrell, R-Lakewood, would require people convicted of driving under the influence to buy fluorescent-yellow, DUI-identifying plates and keep them on their personal vehicles for one year (after their driving privileges have been restored, that is).See the full content of this document
