The river that flows into the river that runs to the sea deserves protection, and so do fish within it.

Gravel mining in the river -- in this case the East Fork of the Lewis River -- is harmful to steelhead and salmon, and this week Clark County commissioners, by a 2 to 1 vote, denied Storedahl & Sons of Kelso permission to expand gravel mining on 350 acres they own at the river.
