CARLSBAD, Calif. -- John Rollins figured he would be home in Virginia, not pounding balls Monday in the muddy turf at La Costa, getting ready for his first taste of match play in nearly seven years.

Rollins finished outside of the top 64 in the world ranking last week, the cutoff for the Match Play Championship, which begins Wednesday. Four days later, everything fell together for him.
