Four east Vancouver family members, eight dogs and a cat escaped with minor injuries early Friday morning after they were trapped in their house when flames jumped from a faulty clothes dryer. A second cat died of smoke inhalation.

No one was hurt badly enough to go to a hospital. Damage to the home was estimated at $225,000.
