Barbara Albert has survived some storms in her time, and the lifelong New Orleans resident saw no reason to fret about another hurricane.

"We expect hurricanes," Albert said. "I live on the sixth floor, and I thought that even if it was a Category 5, we could hold up."

But Hurricane Katrina proved Albert wrong.

"I'm 70 years old, and I've never seen the city flood like that," she said.

Now Albert is living in Vancouver with her daughter, Claire Albert Rodman the only one of her six children who wasn't a New Orleans resident when the storm hit....
