BEAVERTON, Ore.- "Steady yourself. Don't take the leg up so fast," Sivagami Vanka tells Shivani Patel as she practices.

A week before her much-anticipated 90 minutes in front of 500 people, Shivani, 14, is betraying some fatigue. While she pulls her foot up to the back of her head in another acrobatic pose, she loses her balance. Her dazzling smile fades, but only for a second. She knows she has mastered 30 of the art form's 108 limb-twisting postures.
