Clean water could cost $1 million for 15 homeowners in north Clark County, said Steve Prather, water quality manager with Clark Public Utilities.

The homeowners learned last fall that their private wells, in a one-square-mile area along Hayes Road, roughly one to two miles east of Woodland, are contaminated with arsenic. Levels ranged from the new federal limit for drinking water, about 10 parts per billion, to more than 2,000 parts per billion.
