OLYMPIA - Republican legislative leaders raised the ante for today's special legislative session Wednesday, saying the job of slowing property tax growth won't be done unless lawmakers put limits on the ability of local governments to tap their unused taxing authority.
Rep. Ed Orcutt, R-Kalama, said he will introduce a bill today requiring that local taxing districts go to voters for permission before they use that authority to raise taxes by more than 1 percent annually.See the full content of this document
