YAKIMA Record-low snowpacks and dismal streamflows had state officials fearing the worst for energy, farmers and fish last year, but the 2005 drought ended up being less severe than anticipated, state agencies told the Legislature in a new report.
However, the state can improve its ability to respond to future drought emergencies in a number of ways, the report said, including creation of a state climatology office.See the full content of this document
