2007 a Record Year for Port

Timber shipments to the Port of Vancouver dropped by 55 percent in 2007, steel sagged and auto imports were stagnant. That sounds like the earmarks for a dismal year of marine business.

Northwest Pipe's Moving Into Town

Northwest Pipe Co., a manufacturer of large steel pipes, will move its corporate headquarters from downtown Portland to Vancouver's Tidewater Cove in mid-March, company officials have confirmed. About 50 employees will make the move to 5701 S.E. Columbia Way, where Northwest Pipe has leased 17,386 square feet once occupied by iRiver, a South Korean company competing with Apple's iPod.
