County Added 4,000 Jobs in 2004 ; Rate of Expansion Fastest in Past Five Years
Clark County added jobs faster in 2004 than in any of the past five years, a feat accomplished despite an unemployment rate that inched upward in December. The county added 4,000 jobs for a total of 124,400 workers at year's end, which was a 3.3 percent gain from 2003 and beat the statewide growth rate of 2.2 percent.
Charges Dropped in Child Rape Case; Girl, 5, Stopped Making Accusations
Criminal charges have been dropped in the case of a Vancouver man accused of raping a child who attended his wife's home day care. Troy J. Goodpaster, 33, was charged in August with first-degree rape of a child.

OLYMPIA - A senator who represents part of Clark County and a constituent who can't remember the most harrowing ride of his life asked lawmakers Tuesday to get tough with motorists who won't pull over and make way for emergency vehicles. John Cullen, 46, of Sunnyside, said those road hogs subject now to a modest $101 fine almost caused him to bleed to death in an ambulance.
