Convent Welcomes New Nuns

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) Sister Juana Gutierrez and Sister Julie Doan recently offered their final vows to join the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. Such a ceremony was common occurrence in the 1950s, when the Beaverton convent regularly welcomed new nuns. Sister Juana and Sister Julie, however, were the first to make their final vows in 14 years.
